‘As Team Captain for Target Ovarian Cancer at this year's Adidas 5k Women's Challenge I would like to invite you and your friends and family to join us. I would love you to be a part of our team at this magnificent and crucial event in London's Hyde Park to raise as much money as possible for a cause very close to my heart.
Whether you choose to run, jog or walk - I'll be walking! - the money we raise in sponsorship will fund Target Ovarian Cancer's vital work improving diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for the 6,800 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year in the UK.
Please join me and all of us on the Target Ovarian Team in supporting every woman living with ovarian cancer.’
After you have signed up we will ask you to do 3 little things to make sure you have a great time and we raise as much as possible to support women living with ovarian cancer.
Target Ovarian Cancer is dedicated to achieving a long and good life for every woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the UK (on average 6800 women a year), and working to improve diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
Ovarian cancer in the UK today is characterised by:
- Low survival. The UK has one of the worst survival rates in Europe at 36%.
- Low awareness. Lack of understanding results in delays in diagnosis
- Chronic underfunding. Investment is miniscule compared with other cancers
- A piecemeal approach to research and patient care
- No research grant programmes, survivorship or advocacy programmes that are run on a national basis
Target Ovarian Cancer is accelerating progress in survival and quality of life, working in areas of clearly identified need within the broad themes of research, education and advocacy.
Anyone who raises £1000 or more will automatically become a member of our Target 1000 club, with the opportunity to attend exclusive events such as the House of Commons reception.
